Просмотров 57 тыс.16 лет назад
Short documentary about Brighton's Victorian landmark. Filmed in 2003 when the pier was targeted by arsonists. Written and Directed by Level Films' Matt Crocker when he was at University way back when!
Laughter In Beslan
Просмотров 27 тыс.16 лет назад
A short documentary following the work of 3 clowns as they visited schools in Beslan, 2 years after the massacre at School No. 1. Filmed by the performers. Edited and produced by Level Films
Like a Phoenix from the ashes, our beautiful I-360 rose to take its place 🤪
And racked up debt
Sadly, news 2024, it wont be rebuilt. The news said the pier should last for about 98 years or more if there’s no storms
So sad. The arson was definite not suspected, I saw a video of a bloke in a boat shoot a flaming arrow right onto the roof of the concert hall which started it`s final demise.
The west pier trust what a waste of time they are time they do anything it’s to late 😢
Rachel Clark restoration of the West Pier. She's having a Laugh. West Pier Trust have done absolutely nothing to restore the pier, infact the exact opposite. When the West Pier Trust bought the pier from the council the pier was 90% solid. The West Pier Trust have managed it's complete dismise while taken money from everyone and spending it on themselves. Rachel Clark should be attested at once and charged with fraud.
Unforgivable how the West Pier was left to slowly disintegrate and disappear.
Ah, sad, I lived opposite the West Pier in the late 80's, early 90's. I loved the red 'West Pier' letters. We used to sit out on the balcony, drink our morning coffee and look out onto the sea with the pier at the helm. So iconic!
Looking at the old pier today so very sad. X
I will not be stepping foot on Brighton pier ever again now that I have seen this video. What a tragedy that the west pier has gone. The people that done this are pure scum, I hope they burn in hell.
weareredandblue i know you are here
Instead of building the i360 , they should have used the money to build a Pier in memory of the West Pier.
No I bet the owners of the Brighton palace pier didn't want to quote or appear in your film. Everyone knows to set the poor ole west pier alight but unfortunately can't prove it. The west pier is now just a skeleton slowly rotting out in the sea it's so sad to see.😢😡
I wish I was a billionaire, so I could build a replica of the west pier with fixtures and fittings that looks the same as the original. Such a shame when that happens to our wonderful structures.
Didn't Chris Eubank offer to buy it and rebuild it 🤔
@@inserter400I'm not sure. It's possible though.
@@mrkipling2201 Did they catch the arsonist?
i lived at the convent in hove 1976 , i can always remember a great flock of starlings, tens of thousands of them doing their swarm in the sky , a real spectacle of nature to behold, and then they would settle for the night on the west pier in safety, i wonder know where they go to now its gone
they still flock round the palace pier, im not sure where they go after
@@vanmantalks its lovely how people just talk about it 😊
They now tend to settle under the boardwalk at the Brighton Marina. They are beautiful to watch
The woman from the West Pier Trust is in complete denial. She even says "the plan WAS to restore it" before catching herself, and saying "IS to restore it." Thirteen years later, there really is almost nothing left.
Sad😥ghost, hauntingly beautiful home to starlings. It has a strange attractive quality.Like an unsolved crime it waits for justice in the waves as thousands of people wander by.
Pier pressure
I know who set fire to it. David Coverdale. I watched him that night just yards from the pier at the Brighton Centre. He said quote. “ you didn’t have to give me smoke on the water”. Get it?. So I will always link those two events. The fire and his white snake show.
How many youtube clips have I seen where it goes "Once a major attraction it Mysteriously burnt down".
So sad how we lost such a wonderful Pier now look what we've got the horrible i360 that the Council gave the company that built it a loan of over 30 million at no rate of interest! And its still not making enough money to pay the loan back!
Prince harry and Meghan probably wanted the pier gone because of global warming
Seven Starlings gave this the thumbs down.
It's an national disgraceful the way the pier was let to go to ruin. I had a couple of washed pieces of wood from the west pier, unfortunately left at my ex girlfriends flat.
Did you ever get em back?
Later Eastbourne pire stay in fire and jet the claremont hotel 😓🔥
What?
I was only 3 years old when the pier closed, I wish I could have explored it before the fire. I remember it being lit up in the 1980's. None of the other piers I've seen come close to this.
I used to live on the building with glass windows just opposite the west pier in 1996. Back then the light was still on at night on the pier. Sad it's gone now.
4:13 That dude definitely did it!!
Song in the background?
At 4:35 is that George or Ringo?
no prizes for guessing who orchestrated the fire.
I totally agree with the people who said rebuild it I was only just around to see the concert hall in 2002 then fire This video Made me cry
I went there on a school trip and was SO disappointed that it had closed just a few weeks previously to our visit. :-(
How could it come to this? The reasons are clear... The ugly Brighton Pier and even that ridiculous 360view tower are never an equivalent to that historic building. Shame on a great nation for letting all this happen! ( from Germany)
Your country did more damage to the UK than any other country in the world.
It's not for you to shame our fine country, especially given the damage done to the UK by Germany in 2 pointless, murderous wars. Lest we forget.
The pier needs to be restored as Brighton is not Brighton without it.
Sadly it’s too late now :(
Brighton by itself is not a city, however 'Brighton And Hove' is
It will always be the Town I grew up in .
they should put growing flower vines on it for animals
Check out 0.37 in. Yeah ....I know its about the music, but that's ugly. Not anyone's kind of blonde.
Such a shame
Leave the pier as it is If you are to restore it, it wouldn't be the same Replacing everything except the framework,That pier is history Leave it as it is and sadly time will come and it will go (Im not saying it will happen in the next 20 years or so) So leave the pier and let it be an icon of brighton
If they rebuild it it still wouldn't be the same
I have the highest respect for such volunteers. Cheers from Singapore.
you want to know who set fire to the west pier it was the other pier
Pier pressure
Of course it was.
It has just lost another section. It's crazy that the Brighton Pier owners would resort to European Court's to object to saving such a landmark for reasons of fear alone. What possible case did they think they had? It would only increase business for them if they took it as friendly competition and engaged in working hard to ensure the Brighton sea front offered attractions that appealed to everyone. How sad!
love Brighton and Eno!
I am only 9 and I am realy obsessed whith this frick
Damn, do you still even have this account now you're 20?
I am only 9 and I have been
dude
The hope still lives in this world
Yeah right ok,bring in the clowns--that will erase the memories of the 354 hostages..has anyone ever considered things from an Ingush or a Chechen point of view and the sorts of atrocities that these kids parents have done to the people of that region?i don't get angry when i hear that someone put a gun to those kids heads...instead i am wisly saying to myself " oh well i guess these kids are paying for their own Mums and Dads fuck ups" the torrorists were desperate so getting a gun was logical
so sad... its got even worst i visted last weekend... the pier has no walk way the concert hall is gone. all that stands is the pillars for the walkway and the shell of the main part of the pier... so sad :(
